BLENNERHASSETT ISLAND HISTORICAL STATE PARK LOCATIONS and DIRECTIONS
Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park includes both the Blennerhassett Museum located in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and Blennerhassett Island located on the Ohio River.
Blennerhassett Mansion is on the island with operating hours on dates from May through October. Blennerhassett Museum is located in downtown Parkersburg, WV, and is open year-round.
Access to Parkersburg is offered by US Route 50 east/west and Interstate 77 north/south. Access to the island is by sternwheeler.
Over the next few years, Point Park, where the sternwheeler has traditionally departed and returned, will be closed for renovations. When completed, it will provide a wonderful area for Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park visitors, area residents and guests of the community to enjoy. Transportation to the island by sternwheeler will depart from Civitan Park in Belpre, OH, until the riverfront development is complete.
These directions provide specific information from various routes that visitors will be using. There are also ‘sternwheeler loading’ signs positioned in Belpre, OH, to direct visitors to the loading site.

DIRECTIONS TO BLENNERHASSETT MUSEUM – Parkersburg, WV
I-77 (north/south) and Route 50 East (from Clarksburg, WV)
- Take exit #176 – Route 50 – Downtown 7th Street
- Follow the signs to Route 50 west
- Get into the left-hand lane and follow Route 50 West toward Athens, Ohio.
- Continue on Rt. 50 for approximately 3 miles
- Take the Division Street exit (downtown) - Rt. 14
- Turn right at the light at the end of the ramp and go across the 5th street bridge. Get into left lane ( Rt. 14N)
- Turn left on Market Street and three blocks to Second Street
- Turn right on Second Street to go one block to Juliana Street.
- The Blennerhassett Museum is the four-story red brick building located directly on the left corner.
arriving from Route 50 West (from Athens, Ohio)
- Follow Rt. 50 East toward Belpre, Ohio
- Take Belpre exit and follow right hand lane to end of ramp.
- Turn right onto Main Street
- At the intersection of Main Street and Washington Boulevard go through the light and veer to the left and cross over the bridge to West Virginia. (left lane across bridge which will put you in the center lane at the over end of the bridge).
- Turn left onto Fourth Street (far right lane)
- Turn right on Market Street and go three block to Second Street
- Turn right on Second Street and go one block to Juliana Street
- The Blennerhassett Museum is the four-story red brick building located directly on the left corner.
DIRECTIONS FROM BLENNERHASSETT MUSEUM (in Parkersburg) TO CIVITAN PARK (Belpre, Ohio)
- Follow Juliana Street to 5th Street.
- Turn left onto 5th Street.
- Go across the bridge into Belpre, OH.
- At the end of the bridge, veer left onto Washington Boulevard.
- Once on Washington Boulevard, go to the third red light and turn left onto Lee Street.
- Follow Lee Street until it ends.
- Turn right onto Blennerhassett Avenue.
- Once you pass the Belpre swimming pool on your right, you will turn left down into the Civitan Park boat dock.
FROM I-77 arriving from I-77 to Civitan Park – the sternwheeler boarding site (Belpre, OH)
- Exit 176 off I-77 (Rt. 50/Downtown/7th Street).
- Take Rt. 50 West toward Athens/ Downtown Parkersburg.
- Take Division St./Downtown exit off Rt. 50.
- Turn right at the end of the ramp, toward downtown Parkersburg (5th Street).
- Stay on 5th Street through downtown and across the bridge into Belpre, OH.

FROM US Route 50 arriving from Route 50 West (Athens, Ohio) to Civitan Park, (Belpre, Ohio)
- Follow Rt. 50 East toward Belpre, Ohio
- Take Belpre exit and follow right hand lane to end of ramp.
- Turn right onto Main Street
- Stay on Main Street until you come to the next traffic light.
- Turn right onto Washington Boulevard.
- Once on Washington Boulevard, go to the third red light and turn left onto Lee Street.
- Follow Lee Street until it ends.
- Turn right onto Blennerhassett Avenue.
- Once you pass the Belpre swimming pool on your right, you will turn left down into the Civitan Park boat dock.
