Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park is bolstered by the energy of two non-profit organizations: The Blennerhassett Historical Foundation, Inc., and the Friends of Blennerhassett. These two distinct volunteer entities, "The Foundation" and "the Friends", cooperatively assist Blennerhassett Island Historical State park with different type of volunteer and monetary support.
The interpretative efforts, tours on the island and mansion, and assistance with special programming events falls generally to the Friends group. The Foundation focus leans more toward discovery of historical artifacts, documents, and structural procurement, and special projects involving, but not limited to, the research of the island history, restoration and rejuvenation.
