5th Annual Mid-Ohio Valley Heritage Quilt Show
Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park
Area quilters are invited to display quilts and wall hangings. Prizes for “Best of Show” and “People’s Choice” will be awarded. Quilt entries will be accepted March 10-11. Items exhibited in 2008 are not eligible for display. Free Open House will be held on March 14 from 11 am – 5 pm. Vendors and needle artists will be featured.

Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park
Visitors will board the sternwheeler at Civitan Park, Belpre, Ohio to go to Blennerhassett Island. This three-hour adventure includes a round-trip sternwheeler ride; an wonderful evening meal of barbequed beef or pork sandwich, baked beans, coleslaw, drink and strawberry shortcake; a guided tour of the Blennerhassett mansion and a narrated old-fashioned hayride tour. Friends of Blennerhassett Gift Shop will be open and bicycles will be available for children to ride for free. Come join us for a relaxing evening on the island. Ringing of the Bell

Join us on Blennerhassett Island to honor the sacrifices made by our forbearers during the War for Independence and the continuing sacrifices made by this country’s men and women today for our liberty. At 2 pm, the bell will be rung 13 times to signify the original 13 colonies. $

Trans-Allegheny Clash of Cultures – Special Series
Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park
American Indian and European cultures fought six wars west of the Allegheny Mountains in what later became West Virginia. The men and women involved in the 18th century cycles of war and peace shaped the future of Trans-Allegheny culture. Your cultural forbearers will come alive again at three West Virginia State Parks in 2009.

Enjoy the best seat for viewing Parkersburg’s Homecoming Fireworks display. The boat makes a brief stop at Blennerhassett Island to visit the island snack stand and then return to the sternwheeler for viewing the fireworks. Mansion by Candlelight

For two nights only! Sternwheeler rides transports visitors back to the year 1805 where the Blennerhassetts are hosting a party on the island. On this autumn evening, electricity is banished and the mansion and island are transformed into the flame-lit world of the early 19th century. The soft glow of candlelight weaves a mesmerizing spell as you listen to music, watch dancing and a lively game of cards. The island’s cooks prepare a harvest dinner for guests to enjoy before touring the mansion, taking a horse-drawn carriage ride or visiting the servant’s party and other activities on the island.
