| July 4 Ringing of the Bell Join us on Blennerhassett Island to honor the sacrifices made by our forbearers during the War for Independence and the continuing sacrifices made by this country’s men and women today for our liberty. | August 16 Family Fireworks Cruise Watch the Parkersburg Homecoming Fireworks display in a family friendly environment. Board the sternwheeler at Civitan Park, Belpre, Ohio. Visitors may go ashore on Blennerhassett Island to enjoy the sunset, and then reboard the sternwheeler to enjoy the fireworks from the river. No alcohol or coolers allowed. | October 10 – 11 Mansion by Candlelight For two nights only! Sternwheeler rides will transport you back to the year 1805 where the Blennerhassetts are hosting a party on the island. On this autumn evening, electricity is banished when the mansion and island are transformed into the flame-lit world of the early 19th century. The soft glow of candlelight will weave a mesmerizing spell as you listen to music, see dancing or watch a lively game of cards. the island’s cooks will be busy preparing a harvest dinner.
